My grandmother took a different path. She didn’t join the workshop; she built her own journey through carpet trading, buying from artisans and selling state-to-state all over india. Along the way, she learned something equally important: the difference between the value of the craft and what the market was willing to pay for it.

THE MASTERY

My father opened four manufacturing unit of different types of carpets in Bhadohi with a simple belief—if we wanted to stand behind the quality, we had to understand the craft ourselves. We began manufacturing for different brands through a white-label business model, learning every technique along the way.

Over time, the work taught him something valuable: when you understand the craft from the inside, you don’t just make carpets—you know which technique, material, and detail belongs to each vision.

THE EVOLUTION

I joined my father while continuing my studies, learning the family business. I wanted to understand what two generations had built, while gradually taking responsibility for the unit myself. Being around artisans I watched their hands, listened to their experience, learned from that and began to understand why certain things had been done the same way for decades.

I realized that legacy isn’t something you simply inherit. You earn the right to carry it forward—by knowing what to protect, and having the courage to evolve what can be better.

THE NEW CHAPTER

The Carpetra is not a new beginning. It is the next chapter of everything my family has built—moving from manufacturing for other carpet brands to creating, trading, and exporting under our own name. What remains unchanged is what matters most: the attention my grandfather taught us, the relationships my grandmother built, and the patience my father never compromises on.

What changes is that this legacy is no longer ours alone. It is now open to anyone who values what goes into making something truly by hand.
