A fine carpet is designed to age with character. Whether Hand Tufted, Loom Knotted, Hand Knotted, Handloom, or Handwoven, thoughtful everyday care helps preserve its color, texture, pile, and craftsmanship. The ideal care routine depends on both the construction and the fiber, so always treat delicate materials such as Real Silk, Viscose, and Bamboo Silk with additional care.

04 — Handmade Carpet Specific Care
Different constructions respond differently to everyday handling.
- Hand Tufted: Keep the pile clean and dry, and avoid excessive suction or aggressive brushing.
- Loom Knotted / Indo-Tibetan: Clean gently to protect the woven structure, pile, and detailed surface finishing.
- Hand Knotted: Treat the surface gently and avoid pulling individual yarns or disturbing the knot structure.
- Handloom: Pay attention to the woven surface and foundation, particularly where delicate fibers or loose textures are used.
- Handwoven: Handle according to its particular weave, fiber, and surface structure, especially where the construction has an intentionally relaxed character.

06 — What to do for a small spill
Remove any solid material carefully without pushing it deeper into the pile.
Use a clean, dry, white absorbent cloth and gently press the affected area.
Move from the outside of the spill toward the center to avoid spreading it.
Only use a small amount when appropriate for the carpet's specific fiber and construction.
Allow the area to dry naturally and completely before normal use.
If the mark remains, avoid repeated experimentation with household products. Incorrect treatment can cause discoloration or permanent surface damage.

08 — When Extra Care is Needed
Additional care is particularly important for carpets containing Real Silk, Viscose, Bamboo Silk, or other delicate fibers, as their appearance and surface can be more sensitive to moisture, friction, and aggressive cleaning.
For valuable, heavily soiled, significantly stained, or delicate bespoke carpets, the safest approach is to use a qualified carpet-care professional familiar with handmade carpets and the specific fiber composition.
A Simple Rule to Remember
Clean gently. Treat spills quickly. Use minimal moisture. Never pull the yarn.
The finest carpets do not need complicated rituals—only consistent, considered care. With the right attention, the natural beauty, texture, and character of a handmade carpet can continue to develop beautifully over time.
09 — Furniture & Weight
Heavy furniture can leave temporary or permanent impressions in handmade carpet pile.
- Lift furniture when moving it rather than dragging it across the carpet.
- When possible, use smooth, suitable furniture protectors beneath heavy legs.
- Avoid repeatedly placing extremely heavy objects on delicate or high-pile areas.
- After moving furniture, gently restore compressed pile with your fingers or a soft brush where appropriate.
10 — Pets
Pets can be particularly hard on handmade carpets because claws may catch individual yarns.
- Keep pet nails trimmed to reduce snagging.
- Clean pet accidents immediately.
- Blot rather than rub affected areas.
- Keep pets from scratching or digging into the carpet.
- Do not use strong pet-stain chemicals without confirming they are safe for the carpet's specific fiber.
11 — Fringe & Edges
For carpets with fringe or exposed woven edges:
- Keep fringe clean and gently straighten it by hand when necessary.
- Remove dust carefully without pulling the fringe.
- Handle bound edges and corners gently.
- Do not pull, knot, cut, or aggressively brush the fringe.
- Do not drag the carpet by its edges.
12 — Storage
This is very important for a luxury carpet brand.
If the carpet needs to be stored:
- Make sure it is completely clean and dry before storage.
- Roll it rather than folding it.
- Roll with the pile facing inward unless the carpet's construction or material requires otherwise.
- Wrap it in a breathable protective covering.
- Store it horizontally or securely supported in a cool, dry environment.
- Check periodically if it will remain stored for an extended period.
Never store a handmade carpet while damp.
13 — Humidity & Environment
Handmade carpets respond naturally to their surroundings.
- Keep the carpet in a reasonably dry, well-ventilated interior.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to damp floors or persistent humidity.
- Do not place the carpet directly over a wet or recently cleaned floor.
- Allow sufficient ventilation after any spot treatment.
14 — Sunlight & Color
Natural light can beautifully reveal the depth, texture, and color of a handmade carpet. However, prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight can gradually alter the appearance of natural and dyed fibers over time.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to strong, direct sunlight, which can gradually affect carpet color.
- Natural and dyed fibers may experience subtle color changes or fading over time with extended UV exposure.
- Real Silk, Viscose, and Bamboo Silk require extra care around intense sunlight.
- Use curtains, blinds, or interior shading where strong sunlight falls directly on the carpet.
- Consider the carpet's fiber and dye composition when placing it in naturally bright interiors.
